Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has announced new details for its latest adaptation of the beloved cat-and-mouse duo 'Tom and Jerry'.
Will McCormack and Michael Govier are set to pen the screenplay alongside actress Rashida Jones.
McCormack and Govier, celebrated for their Academy Award-winning animated short 'If Anything Happens I Love You', will bring their distinctive storytelling skills to the classic franchise.
Jones, known for her work on 'The Other Black Girl' and 'Parks and Recreation', joins the project following her successful collaboration with McCormack on Pixar's 'Toy Story 4'.
Other details about the fresh feature remain under wraps.
The original Tom and Jerry shorts, created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera for the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer cartoon studio, garnered seven Academy Awards.
The announcement follows Warner Bros.' previous Tom and Jerry adaptation in 2021, though it has not yet been confirmed whether this new project will follow that film's hybrid live-action/animation format or take a different direction.
